The General’s report

Convergence is over, and yet it will take a week to recover from the Terran Empire. The Con was busy as usual. Everyone dressed their best and enjoyed all that we had to offer.

Through the years the costumes have changed... of course we have grown older and it is no wonder why we do not know these new characters. The younger generation seems to be more involved with game characters or just dressing in their Goth selves not worried really about costumes at all but to have a good time none the less.

We can only hope that designing and making costumes talent falls on the next generation of Con goers, it would be a shame to think that all costumes would become bought and all future atmospheres just become a big party.

The badge rules became problematic for some, and became a hassle for others. Of course working the bar you hear all the tales, so I encourage anyone who thought it utterly ridiculous to show badges every 20 feet to please tell the Con when they register again or if they don’t go ahead and comment and send it in to the committee. Complaining about it is one thing, but if you do want change you have to make yourself heard.

As always, it was a lot of work, but I love seeing everyone there. I also love to catch up with people I have not heard from in a while. I hope to see everyone again soon. My health has not been well, and I miss that time, I am hoping to be able to do better over the next year at keeping in touch.

I do want to bring up a ridiculous…. For your amusement. This is the first time that I have ever heard of ever in Con history a phaser being peace bonded… yep that’s right. Peace bonded weapon…. Now let me get this straight. Star Trek is a fictional show, about fictional scenario, on a fictional starship, with fictional toys. There is NO working phaser that I know of… otherwise half the population on the planet would have vanished by now… so we are trying to pretend we are fictional characters, from a fictional show, running a fictional scenario, on a fictional starship, with fictional toys… when does that idea make a phaser a deadly weapon? Please someone help me with this??? Not only that but the person who came to our room with this complaint was an officer and EMT who came in not to talk to us but confrontational with a chip on her shoulder and an attitude, and defensive… and what she didn’t know is that the man she was rubbing the wrong way (not for pleasure) was a 20+ year firefighter and EMT…. DUH…. Anyway we wanted to be in compliance over this ridiculous scenario and I want to pass it on to anyone who will read it… that’s right… going to the walls….. let’s see them try to explain this because I cannot. They have dealers with knives from one end to the other and yet they peace bound a Star Trek phaser….. Okay it is too sad for a General to laugh…. But it is amusing….
